Power stations common in the desert of Southern California
My first Joshua Tree
An overlook in Joshua Tree NP, unforunately you can't see very far with all the smog from LA
Our camp site at Sheep Pass, technically a group site but few people are crazy enough to be here in July
We found a natural shelter at our camp site to stay out of the sun
Yum...
We took our little Corolla to do some off-road driving; Russ had a lot of fun!
Along the way we saw several Kangaroo Mice, lizards and rabbits. They were too quick for our camera
Joshua Tree NP is popular with Rock Climbers for good reasons
Someone chopped the tip off this rock then glued it back!
Cactus Garden, *ouch*
Looka dis putty pholawerz!
Hey Bob, give him a push will ya?!
Skull Rock
Bird's eye view of the camp
The best part of our trip was star gazing. We lay on a big rock to watch the night sky and saw three shooting stars! One of them
was right in front of us and was long and bright. Russ saw a couple of what he thought were satelites. Throughout the night we could hear
Coyotes howling not so far away. In the morning I saw paw prints around our campsite which suggested that they must've scouted for food.
They howled some more as we're having our breakfast.
